Knee Pain
Overview
You may wonder what your feet have to do with your knee pain - and we say they can have a whole lot to do with your knee pain! If you're feet aren't sitting evenly, this can place pressure further up your body - pressure can lead to pain in the knees and even further up to your hips and back.
Condition Information
What Is The Role of The Foot in Knee Pain?
Different foot types will place pressure on the knee in different ways. A foot that rolls inwards i.e. a pronated foot, leads to an increase in medial load at the knee joint, whereas a high arched foot can lead to decreased shock absorption which can be felt at the knee joint. Your foot structure, whether it be high arched, low arched or pronated, can lead to an changes in your gait i.e. the way you walk, which subsequently can lead to muscle strain and overuse of parts of the knee.
